Week 25

Here's the most recent update from babycenter:

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. Her hair is probably recognizable now (in color and texture), although both may change after she's born.

A rutabaga, what a beautiful vegetable:

mmm...cake

Alicia made Izzy and I cake (from scratch):

Easter Presents!

Aunt Sabrina made Izzy these cute little hats! The brown one even has a pattern. We will be packing them in our hospital bag.

Aunt Cait gave Izzy a super soft Olivia blanket that matches her room, and a cute little night light too.
Nan got Izzy a cute little Dwell Studio outfit, toy and receiving blankets. Everything is going to be quite coordinated!!

Thank you everyone for the wonderful gifts!!

Week 24 - Update

Here's what Baby Center has to say about week 24:

How your baby's growing: Your baby's growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week, when she was just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), that makes a pretty lean figure, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon put on more baby fat. Your baby's skin is thin, translucent, and wrinkled, her brain is growing rapidly, and her taste buds are developing. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily.

What's great is the link to this handy picture:I think it's great how they picked out such a nice looking ear of corn.

We also found some more pictures from I-Am-Pregnant.com (these ones might give you a better idea what Izzy might look like right now):

I know, probably not as helpful as that picture of the ear of corn and the quarter, but we like to share as much information as possible.

Right now, I'm looking forward to being able to feel Izzy kicking more often, now it's a little hit and miss. As always we'll keep you posted.

Best part of pregnancy so far = Feeling Izzy kick. I think she is doing gymnastics now - flips and all.

Curtains!!!

Today's project was to put up curtains in Izabella's room. The nursery is going to be quite cute with all her furniture and some special paintings from Grandma!

Daddy worked hard on this project:

Week 23

Only 17 weeks to go!

Alicia and Izzy went to San Diego this past week and Alicia said that Izzy really kicked up a storm as the plane was taking off.

Here's what Baby Center has to say about week 23:

Your baby is more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango). Her skin is red and wrinkled. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare her for breathing. She can swallow, but she normally won't pass her first stool (called meconium) until after birth. Loud noises heard often in utero — such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze your baby when she hears them outside the womb.

Week 22

Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until she gains enough weight to fill it out. Your baby's eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks some pigment. Your baby's lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. You won't actually see her first tooth until she's around 4 to 7 months old, unless she's one of the rare babies who are born with teeth.

For a split second, I thought we were out of the vegetable stage and into the 'miniature newborn' stage, but then the parenthetical aside arrived and Izzy is compared to a spaghetti squash.

On another note, I hope, for Alicia's sake, that Izzy isn't born with teeth (ouch).

Finally - the chair we have been looking for!

Today we found the perfect chair to fit all of our needs. It has a modern look, it glides, and it reclines!

This is the style chair:

Plush microfiber fabric that can easily be cleaned:

And dark espresso legs to match in Izzy's room, our room or even downstairs.

Mommy at 21.5 Weeks

Mommy is getting close to 22 weeks and here's what Baby Center says about the 21st week:

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. Her eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed. And you can certainly feel her move. She's oblivious to your schedule, though, so don't be surprised if she starts working out just when you're settling down for the night.
I can confirm the last sentence, Izzy has no concept of day and night. Often as we're trying to go to sleep Alicia is saying, "ouch."

Of course, I'm saying, "what's wrong."

"She keeps kicking me."

Izzy's Room

We made our first purchase for Izzy today! After venturing into Babies"R"Us last night and seeing the quality of their furniture/staff customer service, we decided to take another look at Goores (baby heaven). Even though it is not as modern as we had originally planned, the two pieces will last a lot longer. The crib turns into a toddler bed and then into a twin bed. We also bought the long dressing station. Both items are displayed on the top photo below. Now we have to wait 6-10 weeks for them to arrive!
